Missouri River Basin water resource management: Challenges to sustaining competitive agriculture: Improving resiliency to extreme weather in the Missouri River Basin States
This project is a collaborative effort to advance the safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of the nation’s water infrastructure, including dams, levees, reservoirs, irrigation systems, and waterways. Researchers will develop innovative engineering tools, monitoring technologies, and decision-support systems that use advanced modeling, artificial intelligence, sensors, and cloud-based data platforms to better understand and manage water resources. The project will help communities and resource managers address challenges such as water scarcity, drought, flooding, climate change, and environmental conservation while improving access to reliable water supplies. Outcomes will include new guidance documents, training materials, data collection tools, and a water infrastructure monitoring network that supports data-driven decision-making and more resilient water systems.
